Easy methods to take picture of your browser webpage from pc.

There can be many situations when you are required to take picture of your browser screen of website area. This is called " screen shot " in technical language.

For years i knew one method to take my screen output which was revealed to me by one friend of mine. Its like this

When you are ready to take "screen shot" of a webpage
1.Press F11 key located in the first row of keyboard.
2.Now press " Print Screen " Key located in Keypad area of keyboard.
3.Now open MS Paint and Choose Edit -> Paste , this will place your screen shot in ms paint.
4.Save your ms paint file.

But the problem with this method is that if the browser content is scrollable full screen shot fails.

There are many free utilities out there for you to solve this problem now.
But i found this very interesting addon with firefox called ScreenGrab.

Download it from its site and install it.This will create a ScreenGrab launch at the bottom-right area of fire-fox browser.

When you next want to take screenshot of your browser screen just click on screengrab-->Save--> Complete page/Frame-->

Really easy ! isn't it ?

Free FTP Client.

Couple of days back I was looking for a free but fast ftp client.
I downloaded and tried 3 or 4 utiliies but found FileZilla the best.

This Ftp client ( filezilla ) is an outcome of Open Source (GNU/GPL).

The ftp client has some issues ( rare crashes ) but still its worth to try.

The previous client i was using was bulletproof ftp which is also very fast but not free

Follow this link to go to official website of filezilla. Click Me.

SEO - The smart places to put keywords in a website

• Place keywords in the paragraphs.

• Place keywords in the heading tags.

• Place keywords in img alt tags.

• When the word is part of a small statement making a specific point, you may bold it or italicize it.

• You may also want to include your keywords a few times in bulleted lists.

• When possible place the keywords in links, and don't forget navigation.

• The key focus of the page should be on readability.

If the page does not make sense to human eyes then it is no good for a search engine and it will not make sales.

You want to use keywords often, but not to the point where it sounds like you are writing for the search engine and not the user.

Turning your personal blog in to a money spinner option

Turning personal blog in to a money spinner option

Lots of people are blogging. They blog coz they like to blog !.Blog has given the " not so technical

" people all over the world to express themselves and they are utilizing it.

If you have some idea and experiences to write you can too start your own blog.

Two options are there for you -

1 ) Free Blogging -

Setting up a blog on websites that provide you the facility to blog free.
You need to create an account on such websites.

The most famous free blogging place is www.blogger.com

Advantages :

1) Do not have to pay anything for web hosting
2) Google supported free stuffs to be used inside your blog.Like Polls, Hit counteretc.

Disadvantages :

1) You do not have total control over your blog. For example you can not use a third part

snippets inside their supported blog.
2) You do not have full control over the blog design as you have to choose from one that

is provided by blogger

2) Paid Blogging -

In this type of blog setup you have to search a webhost , install Content Management Systems like

Joomla, mambo or TypePad and Pay for webhosting annually.

Advantages :

1)You can design your blog as per your choice.
2)You can place ads anywhere on your blog top , botton ,left , right or middle of the

content.
3)People can reach your blog from a small url like myblog.com instead of

myblog.blogspot.com.
4)You can optimize your paid blog more effectively than on blogger.
5)Creating a brand name for future business.

Disadvantages :

1) Recurring annual cost for domain name ( the name you choose i.e www.myblog.com ) and

other hosting charges.

Now the best part ! Monetization of your blog.

No body dislikes money ! , and, if its comes with your hobby thats a bonus !
I know many people who are earning drammatically from blogging, as high as $1000 a day !

You can earn from your blog by joining the different ad providing programs.
like adsence, kontera, adbrite and many...But i will talk about adsence here..

How this whole ad process works

Join the Adsence program, go to https://www.google.com/adsense/

1.) You Join an Online Ad providing Service like adsence.

2 ) Adsence gives a a code to be pasted inside your blog.

3) After 2nd Step ads began to be displayed after 10 minutes on your website/blog from the google

code you pasted.

4)Now when visitors arrive on your blog they are attracted towrds the displaying ads and click on

them.

5)You are paid some $ for each click you get on your ad.

But remember that key to earn big is directly proportional to your blog traffic.

The high website/blog traffic you have the more you earn from adsence.

Bye....

Why banners at the top of the webpage have the Higest Click through.

It should be noted that your banner is much more effective at the top of a page than at the
bottom. This difference in click-throughs can be as high as 100% between the two locations.

The are a few reasons for this.

The most important two being

many times the banner at the top of the page is the first and only thing a visitor sees if a site is loading and the rest of the graphics take a long time to load (this brings a lot of attention to your banner); and the visitor is more likely to pay attention to graphics and

text at the top of a page (to see what the page is about and how to navigate your site) compared to when they are closer to the bottom of the page and are just “scanning” after absorbing what was at the beginning.

Make sure when you are setting up your advertising to ask the webmaster where the banner is being displayed. If you can’t get the position near the top of the page, think about advertising with someone else.

Search Engine Optimize Your Blog For Google Search

Google usually lists a site within a few days to a month. During the first month or two it is common for your site to go into and out of their database many times until you have built up sufficient link popularity. Link building can help get your site indexed and keep you in the index.

Google primarily focuses its algorithm on linkage data. On page criteria is weighted exceptionally lowly for shorter and highly competitive search phrases. To

do well in Google you will need to target less competitive phrases using many different pages, or think of ways to get others within your community to want to link to your site using your primary keywords in the link text. Some of the more common ideas for improving your link count are to:

• Join trade organizations.

• List your site in directories.

• Submit press releases via sites such as http://www.prweb.com. Using PR Web and paying $80 can get you distribution in Google news and Yahoo! news.

• Create a quality topical directory one level above your category (slightly broader).

• Write compelling articles and get them syndicated.

• Sponsor 501C organizations (or buy/rent other links), or sponsor other sites.

• Reciprocate links with other quality sites.

• Place advertisements on relevant related sites.

You will still want to structure your page properly using heading tags, page titles, and the other page elements to help you rank well in all search engines, but currently links are what matter most with Google.

Also it is important to note that Page Rank is a logarithmic value, and one related PR7 or PR8 link is worth much more than 3 or 4 PR2 or PR3 links. This is why it is super important to think of ways to get the best topical hubs to want to link to you.

Off topic links still count toward link popularity and Page Rank. If you can get a few links from within your community then you may receive a great ranking boost by sponsoring a few non profits or renting a few strong inbound links from other websites. If you are in a competitive field you will probably want to build many on topic links.

Many mixed anchor text keyword rich inbound links from many different sites (from various IP ranges) is the single best way to improve your rankings across all search engines.

Anchor text: (inbound link text) is the single most important element in Google’s current algorithm and is worth far more than Page Rank alone. Good anchor text combined with on topic links will eventually yield strong search engine rankings.

Since Google began delaying the effect of inbound links to new sites it can take up to 3 months from when your inbound links begin to age for it to pay off in the Google search results for competitive terms. With Google you want to build linkage data over time to minimize the chances of it appearing unnatural.

If Google believes your site to be a trusted authority the delay time is not as noticeable and may not even exist.

What you lose on a free web host.

Before deciding to host on a free web host
Consider these problems with free web hosting:

Damaged Business Reputation

If you have your website set up on something like Angle fire, or Geocities or any of the free web site hosts it is pretty easy for your customers to see that you have a free web site.

When people see that you have a free URL or free web site, you've lost credibility instantaneously.

You start out with a strike against you because if you can't afford the $25 - $45 to get a web site how in the heck can they believe in your product or your credibility or in anything you are selling them?

They don't perceive you as a real business… if you can't even afford a small web hosting fee.

Unreliable Account

The second problem is if you have a domain called geocities.com/gardeninginfo.html

Everyone gets to know you at that address. When you become popular and get busy, people know you as that address.

If you ever got into trouble because of Spam you can get shut down immediately. Or maybe your free website host will start charging you. Or they could go out of Business.

If anything at all happened to your URL, you've lost all the business you've worked so hard to get.

It's the same thing as building traffic to a store front, and then moving your store without telling anyone about it. ou get the same kind of problem on the internet.

People know to go to your address, everyone has linked to that address, they search for that address.

Once the address disappears for some reason, then you are in serious trouble. If you plan on going big on the internet, never ever go with free web site hosting!

Limited Facility and Poor Uptime

The third problem about free website hosting is that many of them have different stipulations about what they require you to do in order to get free web site hosting with them.

The major limitations i have noticed are:

  1. Majority of them do not provide SMTP Email Account
  2. Free hosts force you to upload files through their user interface instead of ftp.
  3. Servers of free web hosts down at peak traffic time.
  4. Free web hosts force you to join their forums and make some posts.
  5. Free web hosts terminate your account on too many photos upload.
  6. Free web hosts mostly do not provide database like ms sql, my sql.
  7. Free web hosts terminate your account if you do not receive traffic.
  8. Free web hosts terminate your account if your site has too many visitors.
  9. Free web hosts do not listen to your queries.
  10. Free web hosts put ugly banners or text links on top or bottom of your website covering 25% screen space.

I have tried most of the free web hosts both on PHP, Java , ASP.Net domain and in my view the most strong reason to say no to them is because they are mostly down at peak hours.

But free web host could be use in some cases

  1. Web programming test purposes
  2. If you want a personal website without any cost.

Why the Page Title is Important in search engine optimization

When the web was created, it was created around the idea of the page and the link being the fundamental units of data.

The page title is one of the most important attributes on the page. For some non competitive terms a good page title alone can land a page atop search results. Let us see the bad ways to make a page title.

1. "paxil, prozac, Zoloft buy now, internet pharmacy, Viagra, pills on wholesales, antidepressants, weight loss, phentamine..." this is absolutely not the goal of the page title

2. "untitled document" this is absolutely not the goal of a page title

3. "Welcome to Angela’s store" this is absolutely not the goal of a page title

4. "Welcome to Angela’s store" this is absolutely not the goal of a page title

The goal of the page title is to give search engines and readers a brief description of what that page is exactly about.

Problems with the Examples:

1. It is true that the page can be about any specific topic (even prescription drugs or casino stuff or pornography), but the title should not be a loose array of selected somewhat similar terms. You could pick any topic and focus on it, but not on a topic range.

2. Many pages on the web do not even have a title. Unless one was trying to list well for "untitled document" this title makes it hard to generate any traffic.

In the Yahoo! Search index there are over twenty million pages sporting the "untitled document" title. They would get much more traffic if they titled their documents.

Yahoo! Search: allintitle:untitled document

3. First of all people probably have no idea what Fred’s store is.

Is Fred’s store a hardware store?

A discount shoe store?

A Viagra store (going with the pharmacy theme)?

You just don't know. Neither do search engines. Placing salutations or unnecessary document references in the title kills the keyword weighting of the title.

I always say "Welcome to...low rankings". Just for fun I did a search on Yahoo! to show how many sites had the following in their page title:

a. welcome to (close to 30 million)

b. home page (over 15 million)

c. welcome & welcome had thousands of entries each.

The misspelled words are even sort of competitive.

4. Notice there is no difference between example #3 and example #4.

The title is a page title or document title.

The title is not the site title. If, for branding purposes, you feel you should place the site title in the title of every page it is advisable that you place it at the end of the title.

That is, unless you are so big that people are likely to search for your name already (Nike, Pepsi, Coke...)! The page itself is a fundamental unit of data, not the web site!

How to Search Engine Optimize a Website in general

Search Engine Optimization is a method or rather skills which can help you increase your search engine ranking result for a searched keyword.

These are general methods some known and some unknown which you can follow for search engine optimization of your website.

The Title Tag is important -

Title Tag for every page should be different based on the page content. It is useless to keep simply the name of your website like "xxx.com" in title tag.

The title tag should be descriptive like "xxx.com - buy watches at the best price ".This will help search engines to categorize the keyword "watches" as an important keyword. Keep the title short and accurate, not more than 60 characters roughly.

Must create a site map index

Site map index helps the google and other search engines to know about the existence of pages on your website. Normally what happens is that search engine crawlers do not index pages that are not linked properly or the pages that are to deep in link hierarchy.

Do not use Flash

Search engines do not like flash pages. Look at the alexa.com top 100 websites rankings. How many of those sites are using flash?

Flash pages are like black boxes for search engine crawlers, they can not interpret what those object markup try to say.

Due to this problem Microsoft launched a new technology called silver light to capitalize on the loss of flash coz silver light is exactly like flash but search engine friendly.

PDF document is not a good choice.

Due to rapid development it is easy to create a PDF file and throw it on internet but that would not give you a good ranking in search engine.

Frames are obsolete do not use them

Frames were a hot fashion in early decade of 2000 but not any more. The low search engine ranking has made it outdated so i would suggest you avoid using frames in your web pages.

Include a description Meta Tag

If you have seen the search engine results page you have noticed a definition about the site with each result that comes from meta tag description.

you must place a description meta tag between the head tags, in this format: Some search engines include this description below your hyperlinked title.

META NAME="DESCRIPTION" CONTENT="Find a Date, interact with thousand of profilers, social networking, social network"

Remember that maximum number of character should not exceed 255 inside description. Do not insert a keyword inside description meta tag if it is not used on the webpage.

Hyperlink your keywords on the webpage

You should try to display your keywords in hyperlinks. The hyperlinks within the keywords should point to specially designed pages optimized for keywords.

Promote your blog or site from your other websites

If you have more than one website or blog use it to promote your "this" blog. More over you can use online forums to promote your website.

Write alternate text for Images

Do not forget to write genuine keywords inside alt tags of images. But do not try to forcefully stuff keywords coz that is labeled as spamming by google bots.

Internet traffic is volatile and have shifting loyalty towards good, interesting and dynamic content. So if you do not update your blog or website content soon people will forget your website and turn towards other.

Ok! that was little off topic. So, we are going to see what doors we have to invite traffic to our website.

1. Search Engine :

Have you submitted your website or blog to the search engines? If not do it.

Contrary to the common misconception it is not necessary to submit your site URL to all search engines. Submitting for google is sufficient coz most other search engines crawl google to get website listings.

Try to grab your place in top 20 search results in google if you are top 10 its more than good.

Search engine optimization techniques will help you achieve this. If you do not know anything about seo just try to get back links towards your site from your friends website or from your other websites.

2.Internet Forums :

Internet forum websites are a good way to interact with people. Be an active member of the forum and keep a signature of your website when you join the forum. In that way people of the forum will notice your signature when you post a question or reply to a question.

3.Email this content :

“Email forward this content “ feature helps site visitors to send an article or joke from your blog or website to their friend. This helps to replicate web traffic in a geometric progression. It is one of the fundamentals of viral marketing.

4.Social Networking Websites

Use social networking websites to promote your website. Read the scrapbook and profiles of your targeted website traffic to estimate the requirements and likes of your visitors. It is like a market survey in some sense.

Use your website url in your profile website field of orkut & face book like Social Networking websites.

5.Run contests & giveaways

People love to win prizes! You can run quiz contests and surveys to facilitate constant web traffic. The amount of prize is not important but frequency is.

If you are low on budget you can distribute e-books and loyalty point like stuffs in your prizes.

6.Revenue Sharing Programs

To interest people write articles for your website you can use revenue sharing programs which help your users place their adsence id on your website in your defined ad space for a given period of time as set by you.

7.Use youtube for web promotion

You can make short and sweet video story with the help of windows movie maker and float it on youtube. The video should have a source caption at the start and end like "xxx.com presents" or "courtesy xxx.com".

Companies as big as Pepsi are now using youtube to launch ad campaign for their products.

8.Keep a social book marking feature on your website

This will help visitors book mark your site content in technorati, digg etc which will further pull traffic from there.

9. Website traffic analysis

You can use statcounter.com to analyze your web traffic for location, keywords and numerous criteria’s. This can help you analyze what kind of keywords is driving traffic towards your website so that you can tune-up those keywords.

10. Newsletter

Newsletters help you inform your website members about your site updates. It is a tool of connectivity for a site administrator to his/her member.

11.Classifieds Ads

You can use classified ad websites like kijiji and others to promote your website. You can put short interesting information from your website on these sites with a back link towards your website.

How to create a successful blog .

Blogging as you know has now become the new buzzword all over the world.
Blog is basically a reflection of your thought on any subject and unlike a website a blog has no set pattern of subject so, one day you may write about the different car models and on the other day you can choose to write about your pet. That is the variety of a blog!

Due to diverse and dynamic content, search engines love to crawl over blogs frequently.
With the arrival of adsence and other advertisement publishing programs blogging has become a profitable business too!

Not surprisingly, every day thousands of blogs are being set up by the people , both programmers and amateurs, all over the world on blogger.com and other free blogging websites.

A blog if written intelligently can help you to earn handsome money just by writing few articles daily. Jason Calcanis like bloggers, have already have done this successfully.
It is unbelievable, but his blogs, were generating a sum of $4000 everyday by the end of 2005 till he sold his webblogs to AOL for $25 million.

But successful blogging is not as easy as it seems. It needs a successful and well thought blogging strategy as well before you jump into this arena.

I have experienced some basic fundamentals for writing successful and interesting blog.

Write a short & interesting blog

According to many internet surveys it has been observed that web surfers do not like to read lengthy topics spanning deep down south! So keep your blog short and to the point. Remember! You only have few seconds to catch the visitor’s attention and long topics will scare them.
Be informal in your blogs

Blogs are basically your opinions so try to be friendly and informal in writing
So that user can attach themselves to your topic more effectively.

Do not write on topics you hardly know.

Most new bloggers just start up a blog out of fashion coz his/her friend has one. But think about it!
You are not going to continue long if you try your hands on alien topics.

Make your blog specialized on some topic you have firm grip.

Ask your readers opinion

You should invite users participation and ask them what they think about the topic you have written. This will help you under stand what people like to read and how you can tune-up your blog article.

Inter-link your topics

If you want to write many related topics you must interlink the topics giving related hyperlink from one topic to another which would be nice way of navigation for readers and will increase visitor say duration on your blog.

Open RSS feed for your blog

Many bloggers under estimate the power of rss feeds. But believe me it pays off with time when consumers of your blog feed point to your blog , with one way url ,linking, boosting your search engine ranking very fast.

Search Engine Optimized topics

This is a must follow method for every blogger. Search Engine Optimization or SEO as popularly called is the method which can help you increase your search engine ranking and opening a new door of visitors to your blog.

But that does not mean that immediately after creating a blog you run for the search engine experts for small optimizations to your blog or website.

Search Engine Optimization is a skill that any person can learn by time, practice and experience so try to learn this art by yourself.

Post Blogs Frequently

Do you like stale food! No body does and that is exactly the case of your blog or website visitors also. You should try to post your blogs frequently to keep alive the visitors expectations of "What is coming up!”. A fresh and frequent content will help you increase search engine ranking too as a by product.

Quote your personal experiences

Discuss your personal experiences with visitors about how much you are related to the topics and how successful you have been with your own mantras.

Never Give Up

It is hard to keep patience, but you need to have it before your blog starts to earn money and fame.
Do not think about the profit but quality of the blog you write and how blog readers are finding it useful and interesting. The other will follow automatically. As the ancient hindu epic “Geeta” says
“It is the duty of a human do his Karma (work) without thinking about the result. God will reward you according to your karma. ”
